GARDNERVILLE, Nev. (AP) - A California couple traveling from Lake Tahoe to the Los Angeles area was arrested after deputies allegedly found 64 pounds of marijuana in their car.

Mono County sheriff’s deputies stopped the suspects on U.S. Highway 395 near Bridgeport, California south of the Nevada line.

When one deputy reported an overwhelming smell of marijuana, 55-year-old Mark Bishop of Claremont said he had a medical marijuana card but deputies determined the card was a fake. In addition to the pot they found a bag containing cocaine.



The (Gardnerville) Record-Courier reports (https://tinyurl.com/kwzjh6z) Bishop was arrested for suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale, possession of concentrated cannabis and possession of marijuana over 28.5 grams.

25-year-old Heather Davis of Alta Loma, Calif. was arrested on the same charges plus possession of a narcotic substance.
