PHOENIX (AP) - A hazardous-materials incident involving a small fuel spill is backing up traffic on a Phoenix freeway.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says southbound traffic on Interstate 17 just south of the Stack interchange with Interstate 10 west of downtown is backing up for a mile because at least two lanes are closed.

Photos posted on Twitter by ADOT show fire trucks blocking the two right-hand lanes and ADOT says a ramp from westbound I-10 to southbound I-17 is closed.

The Department of Public Safety says the spill involves a tractor-trailer that is dripping fuel after debris hit one of its fuel tanks.

DPS says several collisions are reported in the area along southbound I-17 related to the backup.
