KROTZ SPRINGS, La. (AP) - The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will close the handgun and rifle shooting ranges in the Sherburne Wildlife Management Area beginning Monday as construction gets underway.

The work includes demolition of roof structures and construction to replace the shooting line roof and structure.

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of June.

Officials say the structures were damaged after the Morganza Spillway was opened in 2011.

Shotgun and archery ranges at the refuge will remain open.
