LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Deborah Frank, a Lake Charles native, has been named principal at Lake Charles College Prep, the new charter high school slated to open in August.

Frank previously served as the president/head-of-school at St. Louis Catholic High School.

Frank holds a master’s degree in secondary education and educational leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University and a bachelor’s in English from McNeese State University.

Officials say Frank’s credentials, knowledge of the community and vision of educational equality impressed the board of trustees.

Lake Charles College Prep will begin with a ninth-grade class, and a grade will be added each year until there is a complete 9-12 high school.

Gene Thibodeaux, president of the board that oversees the school, says enrollment is still open, but there are only few spots still available.
