DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A tornado warning for south-central Iowa expired, but forecasters warn that the threat of severe weather will linger across the state Sunday.

The National Weather Service warned people in western Lucas County and southeastern Clarke County to take cover around midday Sunday. The warning expired without a confirmed tornado.

Forecasters say there is a strong chance of severe storms developing in Iowa throughout Sunday afternoon and evening, so the state is likely to see more storm warnings.

A tornado watch has been issued for most of southeast Iowa through 7 p.m. Sunday.
