CHICAGO (AP) - The Independent Police Review Authority is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Chicago left a man in critical condition.
Chicago police said in Sunday news release that officers responded to a disturbance on Chicago’s West Side around 2:30 a.m. Sunday. The officers saw a man with a handgun who started to run. The man allegedly pointed the handgun at the officers and one of the officers fired, striking the man.
The Chicago Sun-Times reports (https://bit.ly/1mPaxbh ) Fraternal Order of Police spokesman Pat Camden says the injured man was thought to be in his 20s. He adds that a semi-automatic handgun was recovered from the scene.
Camden says the man was taken in critical condition to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
