WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - An ex-convict wanted for flunking parole has been captured and charged with trying to kill his former girlfriend in Oakland County.

Waterford Township police say Charles Anderson was arrested in Warren. The 30-year-old victim called police Friday, accusing Anderson of strangling her until she was unconscious. She also had a knife wound on her neck.

She is expected to fully recover.

Police say the Michigan Department of Corrections had been searching for Anderson for a parole violation. He’s being held in jail on $1 million bond. A lawyer hasn’t been assigned yet.
