FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - The northern region director for the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is planning to retire from the department on Thursday.

The News-Miner reports (https://bit.ly/QxlnHW ) Steve Titus joined the DOT in 2007. He has been responsible for a staff of more than 750 employees and a budget of $128 million.

After serving with the U.S. Army in Vietnam, the Lathrop High School graduate earned his degree in civil engineering from the University of Alaska Fairbanks and has worked in the construction industry since then.



Titus has coached youth baseball and basketball, and enjoys many outdoor activities including boating, camping, fishing and hunting. The lifelong Fairbank resident is married and has four children and six grandchildren.
