HARTSVILLE, S.C. (AP) - An 18-month-girl is dead after a house fire in Hartsville that eight other family members survived.
Authorities say Gabriella Faith Carbaugh died in the fire Saturday afternoon at the two-story home where two parents and seven children lived.
Darlington County Sheriff Wayne Byrd says the blaze isn’t suspicious. But he says the arson and child death investigative teams from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division were on the scene because of policies involving a child death and a fire death.
The sheriff says the family’s home, belongings and two vehicles were destroyed.
