DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - Parts of Alabama were under the threat of tornadoes as severe storms stretched across the southeastern part of the state.
The National Weather Service on Saturday afternoon issued a tornado warning for a storm southwest of Dothan, saying that radar indicated a tornado near the small community of Fadette in Geneva County.
There was no immediate confirmation of any tornado, but the weather service said in its warning that there were reports of downed trees in the area.
By 4:20 p.m., residents in southern Houston County and in the city of Cottonwood were under a tornado warning from the same storm, which was south of Dothan and heading east at 20 mph.
