WILLISTON, N.D. (AP) - Plans have been unveiled for a new high school in Williston.

The Williston Herald (https://bit.ly/R8cN2W ) reports JLG Architects and Williston Public School District No. 1 laid out the plans to the public on Tuesday.

The plans call for a $56.5 million high school to be built on a 35-acre patch of land northwest of town.

Ted Rozeboom, a consultant working with JLG, says the current high school is on a plot of just four or five acres.

Williston’s rapid population growth in recent years as a result of the oil boom has pushed local schools beyond their capacities. Area schools have been forced to use portable classrooms to accommodate students.

A vote for a $34 million bond to help finance the new school will be held on June 10.
