NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Paperwork filed with the Oklahoma Department of Commerce shows that OfficeMax will close its call center in Norman and lay off about 125 employees.

The closure comes as OfficeMax completes its merger with fellow supply company Office Depot Inc.

Office Depot spokeswoman Karen Denning says the company is “streamlining” areas where there are duplicate operations. Denning tells The Oklahoman (https://bit.ly/1mhL4eu ) that operations from the Norman center will be transferred to another office in Austin, Texas.

Workers in Norman can apply for jobs at other Office Depot locations, including the Austin office.

OfficeMax merged with Office Depot last year.
