RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - A Manderson man who beat another man to death with a metal bar has been sentenced to 9 1/2 years in prison.
Federal prosecutors say 38-year-old Leonard David Yankton must also pay $3,000 in restitution.
According to court documents, Yankton killed Winston Sitting Bear on Aug. 2 while the two were fighting. Prosecutors say Yankton repeatedly hit Sitting Bear in the head with a bar.
He pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter in December and was recently sentenced in federal court in Rapid City.
