MIAMI (AP) - Officials say a small plane lost power and crashed into a large retention pond in a South Florida residential area.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue reports that the pilot, Rob Ramirez, was the only person on board when the Piper PA-25 Pawnee aircraft went down near Aventura shortly after noon Friday.
A resident who saw the crash told The Miami Herald (https://goo.gl/itkMRr ) that Ramirez was able to get out of the plane before calmly wading to shore. He was not injured.
The plane had taken off from North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines.
