Sheriff’s deputy hurt in crash with garbage truck

WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) - A Lake County sheriff’s deputy has been injured in a crash with a garbage truck in northern Illinois.

Sgt. Sara Balmes of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office tells the (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald (https://bit.ly/1faZ284 ) that the deputy was taken to a hospital in Libertyville.

There was no immediate word on his condition or the cause of the crash.

Balmes says Thursday morning’s collision is still under investigation.
