KENDALLVILLE, Ind. (AP) - A northeastern Indiana waitress is being credited with saving the life of a customer whose heart stopped beating as he was dining with his son.
Heather Bateman was working a Sunday shift at a Pizza Hut in Kendallville when an elderly man passed out at a table where he had been sitting with his 64-year-old son.
The 31-year-old former emergency medical technician tells The News-Sun reports (https://bit.ly/P4evSH ) the man had no pulse. Bateman’s manager quickly helped her move the man onto the floor and she began CPR with chest compressions.
Bateman restored the man’s pulse as emergency responders arrived and took the man to a Fort Wayne hospital.
Although Bateman says she was just doing what she was trained to do, her manager, Kelly Broyles, says “She’s a hero.”
