ELKO, Nev. (AP) - Carlin Mayor Cliff Eklund is throwing his hat in the ring for a seat on the Elko County Commission.
The two-term mayor is being forced to seek a new job at the end of the year due to term limits.
Eklund also served four years as a city councilman. He ran a safety consulting business for more than 15 years before he retired in 2009.
The Elko Daily Free Press (https://tinyurl.com/lfwgppm) reports he’s seeking the seat being left vacant by Commissioner Jeff Williams, who said he was sticking to a campaign promise to serve only one term.
The fourth district he represents includes areas in and around Carlin, Jack Creek, Ryndon, Osino and parts of Spring Creek.
