MIAMI (AP) - The upstart cable and digital network Fusion is cutting back its nightly newscast with veteran news anchor Jorge Ramos to a weekly news magazine.
Ramos is a staple of Fusion parent Univision’s nightly newscast. He was doing double duty at Fusion, where he lent the new network gravitas. Fusion launched last fall as a joint venture between Univision and ABC, aimed at Millenials with a focus on English-dominant Latinos and their friends.
Fusion said Tuesday the revised schedule would give Ramos more freedom to travel and produce in-depth stories. The company did not immediately say whether it planned to continue a nightly news show with another anchor.
Under a new deal, Ramos will stay on through the 2016 election.
