TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - One of the former Florida A&M University band members connected to the death of drum major Robert Champion has been sentenced to four years in prison for violating his probation in another case.
A Leon County judge sentenced 25-year-old Caleb Jackson on Monday. He will get credit for 731 days served.
The Tallahassee Democrat (https://goo.gl/lNfDDq ) reports that the probation violation stems from a felony battery charge he received following a 2009 fight at Tallahassee Community College. When Jackson was charged in Champion’s death, he violated probation on that charge.
Jackson previously pleaded to charges in the November 2012 hazing death of Champion in Orange County. He hasn’t been sentenced yet in that case. As part of a deal with prosecutors, his sentence was capped at three years.
