LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Gov. Mike Beebe says Arkansas’ state government should reopen at noon Tuesday after being shuttered for winter weather.

Snow, heavy sleet and freezing rain fell over much of the state Sunday. Many state offices were closed Monday because workers couldn’t reach their workplaces safely.

Temperatures are forecast to be no higher than in the teens Monday night over much of Arkansas and roads are expected to remain icy through the regular morning commute.

The governor’s office says some essential workers may have to report to work earlier.

Beebe directed agency heads to allow workers extra time if they have to drive in on treacherous roads.
