SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Parts of eastern South Dakota could be in for half a foot of snow.

The National Weather Service has issued winter weather advisories for portions of northeast and east central South Dakota until Thursday evening.

Forecasters say rain in the region will turn to snow, with 3-4 inches of accumulation common and 6 or more inches possible in some areas. Winds gusting to 30 mph could create visibility problems for motorists.
