FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Wind gusts of nearly 70 mph have sent dust swirling on Interstate 40 in northern Arizona, limiting visibility for motorists.

Show Low, the Grand Canyon, Prescott and the Chinle reported wind gusts in the high 40s and 50s Wednesday.

In Flagstaff, residents saw a wintry mix of rain and soft hail that looked almost like snow.

National Weather Service meteorologists say the precipitation wasn’t expected to accumulate and the bulk of the high winds were expected to die down late Wednesday night.

A small dust storm blew through parts of the Phoenix metropolitan area on Wednesday afternoon. But it was nothing like the wall of dust that rolled through the area on Tuesday.

Windy conditions are expected to continue through Thursday as a small front moves through Arizona.
