PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - A sheriff’s officer says a man suspected of shooting and wounding another man at a rural home west of Portland has been found dead after the home burned.
Washington County sheriff’s Sgt. Bob Ray said Wednesday evening that officers found the body of 30-year-old Brian Olson inside the burned-out farmhouse in North Plains. Ray said he didn’t know how Olson died.
The Oregonian reports (https://is.gd/NRMkj8 ) that Ray says it appears the 24-year-old shooting victim, James Crandall, will survive.
The spokesman says Crandall is the son of Olson’s girlfriend, 49-year-old Pamela Crandall. All three lived in the home where the shooting took place Wednesday morning. A motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
Deputies responding to a disturbance report learned of the shooting and began a daylong standoff with the armed man. Ray says smoke and flames were seen coming from the house soon after tear gas was used. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
