PENDLETON, Ore. (AP) - Buildings in the Eastern Oregon city of Hermiston can now stand taller.
The City Council this week amended its codes to allow commercially zoned buildings to be 50-feet tall instead of 35.
The East Oregonian newspaper reports (https://is.gd/43OPjV ) the planning commission sought the change after granting five variances to the height requirement since 2007.
The original reason for the 35-foot limit was because Hermiston Fire Department equipment could not reach higher. The department now has taller ladder trucks.
