LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say a Longmont man who died when his pickup crashed into a warehouse had cocaine and a prescription painkiller in his system and suffered a seizure.
Boulder County Coroner Emma Hall’s report, released Wednesday, says 34-year-old Carlos Bustillos died of smoke inhalation. The Feb. 26 crash ignited a fire that heavily damaged the warehouse.
Hall tells the Longmont Times-Call (https://tinyurl.com/ojvkmqe) the levels of cocaine and prescription painkiller Tramadol in Bustillos’ body would have been sufficient to trigger a seizure.
Her written statement doesn’t say that they caused the seizure.
Bustillos’ two teenage children were in the pickup but escaped unharmed after trying to save him.
Police said at the time the pickup stopped at an intersection and then accelerated into the warehouse.
No other injuries were reported.
