FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - The University of Alaska Fairbanks is posting rare earthquake footage for the 50th Anniversary of the Great Alaska Earthquake.

The Alaska Film Archives in UAF’s Rasumuson Library compiled the films shot by amateur and professional camera operators following the March 27, 1964 quake.

The films were shot in Anchorage, Kodiak, Seward, Valdez, Chenega, Afognak and other locations.



They are posted on the university’s YouTube channel.

The anniversary of the quake is Thursday.
