LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Severe thunderstorms are possible in parts of Arkansas later this week.

The National Weather Service says a cold front is expected to sweep across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas late Thursday, with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing along the front. Strong to severe storms - packing damaging winds and large hail - are possible in the area later in the evening.

The service says the cold front could result in showers and a chance for a few thunderstorms to continue into early Friday.

Forecasters say the front is expected to eventually move out of the state, with drier conditions expected for the weekend.
