SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - A funeral has been held for a Southern California man who was found dead in his cell while awaiting trial on murder charges in the deaths of six people, including four homeless men.

The Orange County Register reports 25-year-old Itzcoatl Ocampo was buried Sunday in a Santa Ana cemetery. His parents and brother were in attendance.

An investigation into Ocampo’s death is pending.

Authorities found the former Marine shaking and vomiting in his single-man cell last November. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead the next day.

Ocampo’s lawyer Michael Molfetta has said he was told his client apparently ingested cleaning product.

Ocampo was charged with stabbing to death four homeless men in Orange County in 2011 and 2012 and killing a school friend’s mother and brother.
