PESCARA, Italy (AP) - Three doctors will stand trial for manslaughter in the death of former Italy under-21 international Piermario Morosini.

Morosini collapsed and died during Livorno’s Serie B match at Pescara on April 14, 2012, after a heart attack. Forensic tests later revealed the 25-year-old Morosini, who was on loan from Serie A side Udinese, suffered from an inherited heart disease.

Livorno team doctor Manlio Porcellini, Pescara team doctor Ernesto Sabatini and Vito Molfese of Pescara’s emergency services were the first to attend to Morosini and have been criticized for not using a defibrillator.

On Tuesday, a preliminary hearings judge ruled against the trio and the trial will start on Dec. 14.
