OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) - Lawyers say an Opelika man will have a new trial after a jury failed to reach a verdict in his trial for a 2012 killing.
The Opelika-Auburn News reports (https://bit.ly/1jvvaaJ ) the jury deliberated for two days in the murder trial of 55-year-old Timothy Williams without reaching a verdict, and the court declared a mistrial Friday.
Williams is charged in the killing of 53-year-old Leon Grady.
Prosecutor Jessica Ventiere told the newspaper Williams will remain on bond and will have a new trial.
Police responding to a call in August 2012 found Grady lying in the grass with a gunshot wound to the neck. An officer said at the time that the shooting appeared to have stemmed from an argument between Williams and Grady, who knew each other.
