ALLENDALE, Mich. (AP) - Grand Valley State University officials say they believe a student who reported racist remarks and drawings written on a door was responsible for them.

The Grand Rapids Press and WOOD-TV report Friday the student at the Allendale school has been referred to officials for a student code violation. The student’s name hasn’t been released.

University police Chief Renee Freeman says the incident has “had a disruptive impact on the community.”

The slurs were reported to the university on Feb. 17. They included disparaging remarks about Black History Month and a drawing of a person being hanged was on a whiteboard attached to the door.
