OXFORD, Miss. (AP) - Lafayette County will lend equipment to the city of Oxford, Panola County and other counties within the Three Rivers Planning and Development District.
The district covers 27 counties in north Mississippi.
County Administrator Joseph Johnson tells the Oxford Eagle (https://bit.ly/1mM3phe ) local officials have benefited from other counties’ help when needed and supervisors wanted to do the same.
For example, Johnson says when a teen disappeared in the Yocona River last year diving equipment was borrowed from another county. He said when a front loader broke down, one was borrowed from Lee County until a replacement could be obtained.
Johnson says before any equipment is loaned, Lafayette County will request liability insurance.
