GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - State health officials are investigating a recent increase in the number of prenatal problems detected in Garfield County.
The Glenwood Springs Post Independent reported Friday (https://tinyurl.com/nz6k6g3 ) that health officials haven’t released the number or types of problems.
Stacey Gavrell of Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs says anomalies have been detected in pregnant women in an area from Carbondale to Rifle in eastern Garfield County.
Mark Salley, a spokesman for the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, says a preliminary review didn’t find anything that would prompt health officials to notify the community of any health concerns.
He says the department’s findings will be made public when the investigation is complete, which will likely take several weeks.
