SEATTLE (AP) - A hospital official says the first surgery on a man who was burned when a helicopter crashed on his car in Seattle went very well.

Spokeswoman Susan Gregg of Harborview Medical Center says 38-year-old Richard Newman of Seattle is back in intensive care in serious condition after his surgery on Friday.

Newman has burns covering nearly 20 percent of his body on his back and arms.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating what happened in Tuesday’s crash, in which the helicopter pilot and the photographer working for KOMO-TV were killed.
