EAST GREENWICH, R.I. (AP) - Much-needed road salt deliveries are expected to help state highway crews prepare for another round of winter weather.
WJAR-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1dczuuL ) that the Rhode Island Department of Transportation says its supplier shipped salt to Rhode Island beginning Saturday. The supply is closer to normal but is still below regular operating levels.
A larger shipment of salt is scheduled for delivery March 6.
Also helping preparations is a less dire forecast. A storm on Monday is expected to bring about 2 inches of snow, down from 6 inches initially expected.
Officials caution that the Monday morning commute could still be difficult.
