HERNANDO, Miss. (AP) - The judge in the sentencing hearing of an Olive Branch man who pleaded guilty in the 2012 murder of his neighbor will decide his fate in 10 days.
Judge Robert Chamberlin will decide whether Charles Dalton Shoemake receives life in prison with parole or life in prison without parole for killing Paul Victor III.
The Commercial Appeal reports (https://bit.ly/1nD7Y0k ) Shoemake pleaded guilty on Jan. 14 to the murder of Victor. After Victor was beaten and strangled, his body was dumped in Shelby Farms and set on fire.
Shoemake and 24-year-old Nicholas McDaniel Walker were arrested and charged soon after the 2012 slaying. Walker has not entered a plea, and his trial has been set for May 5.
Shoemake was 17 when he was arrested and charged in the murder.
