JACKSON, Mich. (AP) - CMS Energy Corp. has announced a plan to buy back power that its customers produce from farm animal waste, sewage and other organic material.
The Jackson-based energy company said Wednesday that its Consumers Energy unit expects to buy 2.4 megawatts of electrical capacity from anaerobic digesters. They are systems that use waste to generate electricity.
The company says that the Experimental Advanced Energy Program is open to only to its electric customers and says it will accept applications from April 1 through June 2.
CMS Energy says it will hold an informational session for the program at 2 p.m. April 8 at the Henry Center in Lansing.
