RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The Virginia State Police is urging drivers to slow down during bad weather after three troopers were struck by out-of-control motorists.

The troopers were struck Tuesday morning in the Richmond area as roads remained slick from winter weather in the state. One of the three suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Officials say every motorist can help prevent these weather-related crashes by simply slowing down and maintaining control of their vehicles at all times

Virginia State Troopers responded to 1,000 crashes statewide from 12:01 a.m. Monday through noon on Tuesday.
