MANCHESTER, England (AP) - David Moyes says his position as Manchester United manager is safe and the club will “rise again” after his woeful first season in charge.

United will finish the season without a major trophy if it fails to overturn a 2-0 deficit against Olympiakos in the second leg of the last 16 of the Champions League.

Moyes, who replaced Alex Ferguson in July, says he has not had discussions with the United board about his future because “this is not a club that works on a short-term vision, it is a long-term one.”

Moyes says the board is “very supportive” of his plans for the club.

A 3-0 loss to Liverpool on Sunday left United in seventh place in the Premier League.
