PARIS, Maine (AP) - Paris police continue to investigate a weekend hit-and-run that left a 16-year-old boy dead.

Authorities say Xavier Fuentes of Turner was struck while walking along Route 117 in South Paris on Saturday night. The vehicle that struck him left the scene.

A passer-by noticed the body at about 8:30 p.m. and called police. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police think the Leavitt Area High School student may have been struck by a vehicle with a plow.

Family members say Xavier has been to see a movie with relatives but left the theater alone.

Xavier’s family and police are asking the driver or anyone with information about the accident to come forward. The family is offering a $1,000 reward.
