NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A stubbornly cold winter is about to throw one last jab at Tennesseans before spring arrives. A cold front moving through on Sunday could bring freezing rain to a broad stretch of the state, especially along the Kentucky line.

The National Weather Service office in Nashville has issued a special weather statement covering more than three dozen Tennessee counties. Rain and sleet are expected starting Sunday afternoon as temperatures drop to near freezing in many places by the Monday morning rush hour.

High temperatures are expected to be back up in the 60s or higher across the state by Friday, the first day of spring.
