DENVER (AP) - The Colorado State Patrol is stepping up DUI enforcement across the state this St. Patrick’s Day weekend.

Patrol Chief Scott Hernandez is encouraging party-goers not to get behind the wheel if they have been drinking or using drugs, including marijuana.

The Colorado Department of Transportation says that in 2013, officers made 486 DUI arrests during St. Patrick’s Day weekend. Nearly 90 law enforcement agencies across the state are planning to step up DUI enforcement through Tuesday.
