ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont woman has pleaded not guilty to harming a 6-year-old boy in her care who suffered burns to 10 percent of his body.

Police say 31-year-old Amy Putvain of St. Johnsbury is accused of scalding the boy in December with hot water on his face and chest in the bathtub as she was washing his hair. The boy’s father later took him to the hospital, and he was transferred to a Massachusetts hospital with second-degree burns.

The Caledonian Record reports (https://bit.ly/1i9e5nv) Putvain said she had been shampooing the boy and that he had turned the shower water to hot after she left the room.
