JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - Wildlife officials say the hunting should be good when wild turkey season opens on Saturday in Mississippi.

Dave Godwin, wild turkey program coordinator for the state Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, tells WLBT-TV (https://bit.ly/1dWcDUD ) that the summer hatch season in 2012 was a good one in the state.

The spring turkey season runs until May 1.

Bag limits are one adult gobbler or one gobbler with at least a 6-inch beard per day. Hunters may not exceed three gobblers during the spring season.

The spring season is closed in Coahoma, Quitman and Sunflower counties.

More information on turkey season is available online at www.mdwfp.com/turkey or by calling the wildlife department at 601-432-2199.
