ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Lt. Gov. Mead Treadwell is spending time with family after his brother-in-law died while skiing at Alyeska Resort earlier this week.

Treadwell, in an email sent by staff, said 49-year-old Tom Schantz had been skiing with his wife and children.

The Anchorage Daily News reports (https://bit.ly/1fEUz2w ) Schantz worked as a finance officer for the city of Valdez.



The Alaska State troopers had reported that Schantz suffered a heart attack while skiing at the Girdwood resort on Wednesday.

Treadwell said he would miss some events at the Arctic Winter Games and the National Lieutenant Governors Association.
