BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) - Danielle Lawrence scored 23 points as top-ranked Butler defeated Lafayette 62-50 Friday in the quarterfinals of the KHSAA Girls’ Sweet 16.
The Region 6 champion Bearettes will face Ashland Blazer in the semifinals Saturday in Diddle Arena.
The Bearettes started the fourth quarter with an 11-1 run and shot 42 percent from 3-point range to defeat Lafayette (28-4).
Jaelynn Penn ended the first half with five straight points, including a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send Butler into halftime up 28-22.
The Bearettes (30-3) scored 27 points off of 23 Lafayette turnovers.
Lawrence had six rebounds, five assists and four steals while Penn scored 17 points and three rebounds.
Dee Givens registered 19 points for the Region 11 champion Generals. Ashanti Thomas had 11 points and 10 rebounds for Lafayette.
