FAYETTE, Mo. (AP) - Authorities say a mid-Missouri man is charged in a 2011 shooting death in Howard County.

Howard County Sheriff Mike Neal says in a news release that 34-year-old Zack Jefferson, of Excello, was arrested Wednesday and charged in the death of 39-year-old Jon Spurling, whose body was found north of Harrisburg in August 2011.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1iJaDPu ) authorities did not say where Jefferson was arrested or how he was linked to the shooting.

He is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action.

At the time, authorities said it appeared Spurling walked into a crime at his home in Sturgeon.
