MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - People across Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine are digging out from the late-season snowstorm that dumped up to two feet of snow on parts of the region.

The storm is winding down Thursday, but forecasters say additional accumulations of several inches are possible before the winter storm warning expires later in the day.

Vermont Transportation Agency Dispatcher Larry Dodge says roads across the state are ice-covered because much of the snow that began falling Wednesday hit warm pavement, turning it to ice as temperatures fell. But with schools closed across the state, highway problems are minimal.

In New Hampshire, Orford in Grafton County reported 14.4 inches. The southern half of the state received far less. Still, many schools throughout the state were closed for the day or had delayed openings.
