NAPLES, Fla. (AP) - Naples police detectives are trying to find out who made off with a $71,496 Mercedes-Benz from a Jaguar dealership.

The Naples Daily News (https://bit.ly/O2PuXc) reports the thief is probably not working alone.

The thief used a stolen identity out of Chicago and a $71,495.85 loan from SunTrust Bank. A woman bought a black 2011 Mercedes E63 four-door from the dealership via an internet/phone transaction last July. A few days later, reports say a man who identified himself as the buyer’s “nephew” arrived to pick up the car.

Months later, a woman who claimed to have had her identification stolen called the dealership and said she never purchased the car. She told a dealership employee that her ID was stolen when she applied for a mortgage filed a report with Chicago police.
