PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix City Council member who is U.S. Rep. Ed Pastor’s daughter says she’s not running to replace the Arizona Democrat in Congress when he retires at the end of his current term.

Laura Pastor says she’s right where she wants to be and plans to continue her work on the City Council.

Pastor’s heavily Hispanic district is located entirely in the Phoenix area and is solidly Democratic.

Several prominent politicians are interested in running for Pastor’s seat. They include state Sen. Steve Gallardo, state Rep. Ruben Gallego and Maricopa County Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox.
